Prettiest Restaurants In Austin

1. Eberly

Eberly Austin
Avocado toast at Eberly

Located on South Lamar, Eberly is an American restaurant that has an indoor contemporary dining room (including a skylight-covered “patio”), a rooftop deck event space, and the Cedar Tavern lounge area in the back, which features a mahogany bar that was built in 1866 and served as a bar for 140 years in Greenwich Village, NYC before being transported down to Austin. It’s a very cool spot.

Eberly is near downtown but not downtown, so you don’t have to worry about downtown Austin traffic. And they offer free valet, which is a huge plus in this part of town.

2. Mattie’s at Green Pastures

Undoubtedly one of the prettiest restaurants in Austin, Mattie’s is an elevated southern restaurant housed inside a historic 1916 mansion in Bouldin Creek. As you’re driving up to the gorgeous restaurant, you’ll pass 23 acres of lush, green lawn, dozens of century-old Live Oak trees, and even a few peacocks wandering the grounds, if you’re lucky!

The Saturday/Sunday brunch is one of their crowning glories (there’s truly nothing better than sitting outside, enjoying the weekend sunshine, and devouring those biscuits and chorizo cream gravy!) and reservations tend to book up quickly. The dinner menu is also wonderful, full of southern staples like fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, and bone-in pork chops. Don’t leave without trying the milk punch!

3. Tiny Boxwoods

Easter Brunch In Austin

Tiny Boxwoods is a bright, white, charming little restaurant in central Austin. Everything here is lovely, from the brunch cocktails to the pastry boards and the delicious New American cuisine.

It’s named for the potted plants that were at the nursery where they first opened in Houston. In fact, you might still get the feeling of being at a plant nursery (a very sophisticated one!) when you dine here. The main dining room is flooded with light and has tall vaulted ceilings. And the lawn is a chic, sunny place to enjoy your meal as well. The entire space feels happy. Tiny Boxwoods is easily one of the prettiest restaurants in Austin.

4. Ling Wu

Prettiest Restaurants In Austin

New to Austin in 2023, Ling Wu is a modern Asian restaurant and bar in east Austin. It’s an absolutely stunning space. There’s a small bar at the entrance, but the majority of the dining room is a space with tall ceilings, big windows, and beautiful textiles. The covered patio has the signature lanterns that you can also find at Lin Asian Bar in Clarksville. The patio at Ling Wu is one of the most beautiful places to eat in west Austin.

The menu features favorites from the two sister restaurants, Lin Asian Bar and Qi, like the famous soup dumplings, pan-seared akaushi beef bao, scallion pancakes with curry dip, and entrees like their popular pecan shrimp, or the Peking duck with foie gras paste. Ling Wu also has phenomenal cocktails, and it’s an all-around beautiful space to enjoy a dinner date with a loved one.

5. Comedor

Prettiest Restaurants In Austin

Although it doesn’t look all that beautiful from the outside, Comedor is one of the most architecturally stunning restaurants in Austin. It almost appears like a speakeasy, with black brick walls facing the downtown streets. But walk in the door and you’ll enter a space that’s flooded with light, thanks to their private courtyard dining space and plentiful skylights.

Comedor is modern Mexican cuisine, and it’s an exciting and unusual menu. The bone marrow tacos grabbed Austin’s attention from the beginning, but the entire menu of craft cocktails, tostadas, grilled octopus, and 44 Farms NY strip steak keep foodie explorers coming back again and again. Comedor can be categorized as both a gorgeous and aesthetically pleasing Austin restaurant as well as a place to explore one of the most delicious menus in the city.

As long as we’re discussing Mexican food in Austin, here’s one more that also happens to be an absolutely stunning place to eat. Suerte is the masa-driven restaurant in east Austin that has appeared on all sorts of “best of” lists around the country. The food itself is, of course, amazing. Those suadero tacos with black magic oil served on homemade corn tortillas are what dreams are made of.

But the restaurant itself is lovely, too. It’s a stand-alone building on a busy street in east Austin. A lot of the textiles you see in the restaurant are sourced from Mexico and Texas, so it has a comfortable, clean-yet-rustic feel to them. The color scheme of peachy pinks and neutrals feels so calm and chic.

Lutie’s is an absolute stunner! This contemporary restaurant overlooks the gardens at the Commodore Perry Estate, so every seat, both indoor and outdoor, offers a beautiful view. The outdoor patio with bistro lights is the sweetest place to enjoy a late-night dinner and cocktail, and the lovely dining room, with the black-and-white marble floors and dozens of plants hanging from the ceiling, truly feels like a “garden” restaurant.

Lutie’s is gorgeous, sure. But it also has a pretty impressive food menu. Executive chef Bradley Nicholson worked at three-Michelin-starred restaurant Benu in San Francisco, and executive pastry chef Susana Querejazu worked at Quince Restaurant and Saison, both three-Michelin-starred restaurants in San Francisco.

8. The Peacock Mediterranean Grill

The Peacock Austin

Odds are, if you’re staying at The Proper hotel in downtown Austin, you’ll end up wanting to enjoy every single meal here at the in-house restaurant. The Peacock is absolutely lovely! It’s a Mediterranean restaurant, and the decor makes you feel like you’re inside an Anthropologie catalog.

They offer Israeli and Turkish-inspired cuisine, like delicious meat-grilled entrees that are healthy and made to be shared. Since this is a hotel lobby restaurant, they offer every service from breakfast and brunch all the way to dinner, and even some grab-and-go options. However, try not to opt for the grab-and-go…this is such a beautiful Austin restaurant, it’s definitely worth a few hours of your time. {Photo: The Peacock}

10. Lenoir

Lenoir recently underwent a massive renovation, so this beloved bungalow restaurant on South First street is more beautiful than ever! The interior is quite small - just a few tables and a bar. The backyard wine garden features more tables, though, and on a nice evening, it’s one of the most beautiful places to dine in Austin.

Lenoir serves hot-weather food, meaning cuisine that grows well in warm places, like Texas and Spain. As a result, the menu has lots of Mediterranean influences. It rotates based on seasonality, but something that you can always expect is a great selection of natural wines.

11. Justine’s

Justine's French Restaurant in East Austin

This French restaurant in east Austin is dark, sultry, and oh-so-gorgeous. It’s actually a pretty small bungalow turned into a restaurant, but the outdoor patio is quite large and even has a beautiful velvet-lined tent covering it in the winter months.

The food at Justine’s is classic French fare: escargots in garlic-shrimp butter, steak tartare, and handmade pasta & bolognese sauce. While it doesn’t have the light, airy feel of a place like Tiny Boxwood’s or Mattie’s, Justine’s is the perfect choice if you're looking for a beautiful dinner restaurant for a night out in Austin.
