1. Rosie's Wine Bar
This charming little bungalow in Clarksville serves wine by the glass or the bottle from a long, narrow indoor bar or a larger outdoor space. No time for reservations? Perfect! Rosie's is walk-in only, and it has the casual, charming Austin vibe that everyone seems to enjoy.
They serve small plates with Spanish influences (very much like a tapas bar), and the rotating wine list has an emphasis on natural wine from small producers.

2. Aviary Wine and Kitchen
If you're looking for one of the top wine bars in Austin, Aviary is an exceptional place. If you’re bored with the regular old menus and want something extra fresh and funky, this darling wine bar on South Lamar is worth a visit.
They have a cool and quirky wine list; it's a great place to go if you're in the mood to try something out of the ordinary. The staff is highly knowledgeable and quick to suggest a few fun options.
And it's a comfortable place, too. Casual enough to stop by and grab a bar stool and formal enough to make a reservation for a date out on their adorable patio.
Aviary's wine list features a 50/50 mix of male/female wine producers, and they share a national selection of natural wines.
And although it's a wine bar, Aviary is also a full kitchen with full-sized entrees of seasonal cuisine. The menu has somewhat of a Mediterranean influence, but don't box it in by calling it a Mediterranean restaurant. Think: housemate burrata with fried cauliflower and candied pecans, scallop crude with delicate grapefruit, salsa verde, and fennel, and the crowd pleasing smash burger and fries.

3. Salt and Time Wine Shop
Salt and Time is definitely one of the best places to get a burger in Austin...but did you also know it's an adorable Austin wine bar too? Yep! Next, they have a small wine shop next door to the butcher shop. You can stop by and pick out an excellent bottle to bring home or enjoy a few wines available by the glass and sip on something on their small outdoor patio.
Salt and Time Wine Shop also offers curated artisan food products, like fish tins, unique sauces and jams, and small gift items.

4. Violet Crown Wine Bar and Coffee Shop
Violet Crown opened in 2023 as both a neighborhood spot where the residents of Brentwood could walk in and enjoy an excellent glass of wine, as well as a destination-worthy bar where you can enjoy potato chips and a crips, cold bottle of Austrian Gruner Veltliner on the patio.
Owned by husbands Chris Nagelhout and Grant Richardson, Violet Crown meticulously sources from wineries that farm without intervention. And no, this doesn't mean they only serve "funky" wines, although you could find those on the menu if you want. (Talk to your knowledgable server!) It simply means that the wine at this Austin neighborhood wine bar with farmed and produced in a way that's better for the planet and better for you.

5. Underdog Wine Bar
This gorgeous, light-filled wine bar in Austin not only has an exceptional bottle list...it also has a delicious Korean-inspired menu of small bites as well as larger meat, seafood, and vegetable dishes.
Underdog is a new restaurant in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood of South Austin. This is the type of wine bar where you could cozy up at the bar and enjoy a single glass of wine before your dinner elsewhere, or you could easily dine for a delicious feast. 6. Flo's Wine Bar + Bottle Shop
Flo's is the epitome of a neighborhood wine bar: it's cute, casual, bright, and welcoming. Families stop by for pizza and soft serve at the adjacent AllDay Pizza, couples stroll in to share a bottle of rosé at the bar, babies hang out in their strollers on the sunny patio, and groups of girlfriends perch on outdoor steps, waiting for tables to open up.
It's located in the Colorado Foothills, just across the street from Camp Mabry. This neighborhood near Mount Bonnell really doesn't have a lot in the way of eateries, so a neighborhood spot that people can walk to so easily is a bit of an anomaly.
And it's hard to say if we're still in the honeymoon phase or if it will stay this crowded forever, but it's safe to say that Flo's is absolutely crushing it in their first few months of opening. This little Austin wine bar is constantly packed. (But tables clear out quickly, so don't be deterred...just hang out for 15 minutes and something will open up!)

7. Lenoir
Lenoir is certainly one of the best date night restaurants in Austin, but it's also one of the best wine locations to visit for a bottle of wine and a few small plates
Lenoir is a restaurant that's been open since 2012 in a (tiny) bungalow in South Austin. The interior dining room of this small restaurant only seats a few guests, but the large backyard wine garden has more space where you can enjoy a natural bottle of wine and a few small plates.
There are big live oak trees, hanging lanterns, and relaxing music; this is truly one of the best wine gardens in Austin.
They feature "hot weather foods," so food that grows well in hot climates (like Texas and the Mediterranean!), and so while much of the food is sourced locally, it's inspired by menus all over that feature food grown in the same terroir.
Lenoir serves natural wine, and while some of it is available by the glass, the most interesting options are bottles only. It's the perfect place to go with a friend and split a bottle!

8. Birdie's
Birdie's Wine Bar was listed as one of the country's 40 Best New Restaurants, according to Esquire, and ever since that article went live, they've been packed every night. And for good reason! This family-owned East Austin neighborhood spot serves a rotating menu of whatever is fresh and local.
It's a walk-in-only counter service restaurant with a darling indoor space and a large(ish) back patio. But the wine program here is very interesting!
Birdie's wine list is a mix of classic and new producers, and they definitely emphasize minimal intervention wines. But if you're not into super funky/sour wines, know that you can certainly find more traditional options here as well.
Note that this is a walk-in-only place, so there might be a line out on the sidewalk when you arrive. Just order a glass of wine to sip on while you wait, and you'll be seated in no time at all.

9. Lolo Natural Wine Bar
Austin’s first 100% natural wine bar is totally chill and unpretentious. Don’t know what natural wine is? No problem! You’ll still enjoy the pretty outdoor picnic tables and refreshing natty wines. Or are you a natural wine snob? Well, the staff is gonna love geeking out with you about all things natural wine. (Psst: and just for your reference, natural wine is a wine that is produced with minimal intervention, so it doesn’t have large amounts of sulfites. It often has a sort of “funky” taste.)
They have a decent selection of Texas grapes available, some snacks, a small space inside, and a large outdoor patio that’s dog-friendly and kid-friendly.

10. Neighborhood Vintner
This Westlake stunner is both a bottle shop and a wine bar. It's small, with only a few seats available if you'd like to enjoy your bottle in the shop, but it's classy, elegant, and definitely worth a visit. If you love learning about wine from highly knowledgeable sommeliers, check out Neighborhood Vintner.
They offer thousands of bottles available for retail purchase (which you can purchase and enjoy in the shop), as well as a smaller curated list of wines-by-the-glass.

11. Cape Bottle Room
Did you know there's an entire wine bar in Austin that focuses solely on South African wines? Cape Bottle Room is a chic first-floor wine bar in Downtown Austin that offers hundreds of bottles of wine available to enjoy on-site and a wide selection of wine by the glass.

12. Golden Hour Cafe & Wine Bar
Unpretentious, really sweet, and the perfect casual spot to meet up with a few friends at the end of a workday, Golden Hour is a South Austin bar that's charming and casual. It's one of the newest wine bars in Austin.
They offer minimal intervention, a biodynamic wine list, European bites, coffee, and pastries. The term "golden hour" refers to that beautiful moment, just before dusk, when the sun is setting, and the lighting is the most flattering, relaxing, golden hue. 13. June's All Day
This cafe on SoCo is not just great for sipping wine or cocktails but also for brunch, lunch, and dinner! It’s a favorite place among Austinites to meet up for a casual weeknight dinner + a glass of wine. J
June’s has a gorgeous interior with lots of natural light and pretty marble countertops, iconic black-and-white checkered floors, and a cute little outdoor patio on South Congress that’s perfect for people-watching. It feels a bit like you're inside a Parisian diner with a chic, casual feel to it.

14. APT 115 Wine Bar
APT 115 is a very cool wine bar in Austin. It's a teeny space that’s made to feel like you’re inside someone’s apartment.
The owner + staff are incredibly knowledgeable about wine, and the wine list is thoughtfully selected from producers around the world (although small production and minimal-intervention wine is the highlight here.)
It’s a fun place to go solo with a book or bring a friend or date for an enjoyable night out in Austin.

15. The Austin Winery
This is a super cool Austin wine bar that makes all of its wine on-site. The Austin Winery was the first full-production winery located inside Austin city limits! It has tall ceilings and an industrial feel to it.
They use Texas grapes and make Austin wine. It’s located at The Yard in south Austin, which is one of the most interesting places to take guests who are visiting Austin.

16. Kalimotxo
If you're in Downtown Austin, this Basque-style pintxos bar is a must-try wine bar. It's from the Emmer & Rye hospitality group, and Kalimotxo is a bar that's actually at the entrance to one of their other Downtown Austin restaurants, Hestia.
They offer snacks and pintos, small plates, cocktails, and a nice selection of wine. This is a gorgeous, tiny downtown wine bar, and it's the perfect place to try before a downtown dinner reservation.

17. The Meteor
The Meteor all-day cafe on South Congress starts with coffee and pastries in the morning and then transitions to delicious 24-hour fermented pizza and craft beer + natural wine in the evening.

19. Carpenters Hall
Carpenters Hall is one of the Austin wine bars on this list that's actually a restaurant (like Lenoir, Birdie's, and June's All Day), but it has such a fun wine list and charming ambiance you might just want to stop by the restaurant bar and enjoy a solo glass of wine and a small plate or two.
It's the restaurant inside Carpenter Hotel on Barton Springs Rd. It feels just about as Austin-y as you can imagine, tucked inside a shady grove of trees and just steps away from Zilker Park.

This is a fun and unique way to drink wine…on tap! This Austin wine bar is a cute one if you’re into trying lots of different varietals.
Since the wine is on tap, you can try small servings and create your own custom flight. You get to be the sommelier and try any of the dozens of wines they have on tap! Also, because the wine goes straight from the tank or barrel to the glass, Wanderlust Wine Co. reduces its carbon footprint by 96%.
Something to keep in mind: since it's a serve-yourself wine bar located near Sixth Street in Downtown Austin, it's very unpretentious and casual, so don't expect a lot of guidance and expertise from the staff. If you're just hoping to drink a lot of wine and have a fun time, this spot is for you!

21. House Wine
This is definitely the younger, funkier wine bar of Austin. It’s a little house that’s been converted into a wine bar, and it’s unpretentious and comfy.
There’s a front porch where you’ll often find live music in the evening and a happy hour nearly every night of the week – perfect for UT students.
If you have a bit more money to spend and you’d like a server who is highly knowledgeable about wine, head to Aviary, Neighborhood Vintner, or LoLo.
