This Is The Cutest New Bar In South Austin

It's surprisingly unique in a row of bars that all feel the same-ish. The typical saloons and bars and lounges on Menchaca are kind of grungy and "Austin-y" with their big oak-shaded yards, rough wooden floors, and sprawling properties.

But Lulu's is chic, bright, and airy. It has a polished cement floor, live plants, and interesting textiles. It's the type of place that's begging you to instagram it.

Oh, and three things that are worth noting right away:

1) The cocktails here (which are STRONG!) are very, very cheap. Like, $10 for a spicy margarita, totally made from scratch. (All of the Austin locals are dropping their jaws in disbelief right now. It's just really rare to find good cocktails at that price in this city.)

2) Happy hour on Tue-Fri at 4 pm gets you an additional $2 off those cocktails. Yep... That delicious spicy marg is just $8 during happy hour, which is roughly half the cost of a cocktail next door at Lustre Pearl South.

3) The taco truck, La Taquicardia, which is parked in the back patio, is incredible. They make their own blue corn tortillas, and they're rich and soft and flavorful. Get a few of those cochinita pibil tacos paired with a margarita from Lulu's, and you're in for a treat.
