Whether it's a happy hour date, a romantic dinner, or a group outing with friends, we've got got just the place for you. Austin has so many options for fun date night spots, but the choices are more limited when you get to the suburbs. Here are the best date night spots that are north of cool.
The Best Date Night Restaurants In Georgetown
For Happy Hour: El Monumento
El Monumento has the tastiest margs in town. They actually use a special shaved ice machine to create a snowcone-style marg if you order frozen!
The queso and guac should also not be missed. I actually think about their guac daily (it’s debilitating) and can’t wait to get back up there for some more. Go here for happy hour from 3-6 p.m.

For a Casual Group Outing: Mesquite Creek Outfitters
Mesquite Creek Outfitters is a fun and lively place for a good group hang. Get a table on the sidewalk so you can people-watch and feed into the energy of the Square.
Their beers are tasty and the cheery atmosphere will make it hard for you to leave, especially if the weather is nice. They even sell outdoor apparel if you’re also in the mood to shop!

For Dinner: The Golden Rule
We ate at the quirky Golden Rule restaurant while up in Georgetown. The whole experience was delightful, from the decor to the service to the food. This is an excellent choice for a group date or a romantic date as a couple.
The fun drink names like the “Pissed Off Machete” add to the unique vibe. Our server told us that the menu was based on the owner’s childhood meals and is a nod to his past. That definitely comes through in the food and decor but in a cool and modern way.

For Lunch: Sweet Lemon Kitchen
If you’re looking for a good place for a day date, you must try Sweet Lemon Kitchen. Day dates are a magical time when you have kids who are finally in school all day and you realize you can go meet your spouse for lunch, just the two of you! That’s exactly what my husband and I did when we visited Sweet Lemon Kitchen one day.
It’s the perfect spot for a lunch date with your honey (or your mom, or your girlfriends- I’ve taken almost everyone I know here).
Their food is delicious and their desserts are even better. I recommend the turkey & brie panini (ask for the sweet lemon house salad with the lemon dressing for your side) and a refreshing mojito to wash it all down. Their cinnamon rolls are legendary if you can manage to snag one before they sell out!
This charming cafe definitely makes a fun date night spot too, especially when they have live jazz playing on the patio.

For Dessert: The Baked Bear
You can’t go to Georgetown Square without stopping by the Baked Bear for some killer dessert. You get to make your own ice cream sandwich by selecting from a big list of cookies or brownies (flavors like snickerdoodle or gooey butter cake), then choose your ice cream flavor and toppings.

Date Activities In Georgetown
Lark & Owl Booksellers
If you’re in the mood for more than just eating and drinking your way around the Square, check out Lark & Owl Booksellers. It's the cutest little independently owned bookstore that even has its own cafe.
I love bookstore dates so much! You can go to the travel section and research a trip you want to take together. Or, purchase a puzzle book and fill it out while sipping coffee from the cafe. You can also go to the cookbook section and look for a recipe that you will plan to make together on a future date (then purchase that cookbook).
Another fun idea is to split up once inside and each of you select a book you think the other person would enjoy, purchase them separately and then gift them to each other when you leave the shop.

Georgetown Palace Theatre
If you plan ahead, the Georgetown Palace Theatre is a fantastic place to see a show. They usually have something for kids and for adults playing here.
I got to see Peter Pan here with my son and Mamma Mia with my friend. I was a theater major in college and seeing live theater just brings me so much joy! I always leave The Palace with a huge grin on my face.

Tea Party at Rivery Coffeehouse
Another fun date idea up in Georgetown that you may not have thought of is having a tea party at Rivery Coffeehouse. Call ahead to book this magical experience (ask for Melissa). They set a lovely table for your party with their sweet china and go out of their way to make you feel so special. You each get to select your own tea from their list and a glass of Rosé or Prosecco. Then they bring you all the tea party goodies you can imagine. You’ll think you’re in London! The attention to detail is really what makes this experience memorable. If you’re looking for something different than the typical dinner and movie date, this would be it!
