De Nada Cantina

All of these Austin restaurants have absolutely amazing tacos. Hands down. Ask anyone and they’ll send you to one of these places for tacos. They also have delish margaritas, because nothing goes better with some fresh Mexican street tacos than a pitcher of margaritas. Also, these places are just totally fun and festive. If you want to go out for tacos and margs with the girls, you want a celebratory place. So that’s what we’re sharing here!

Where To Get Tacos and Margaritas in Austin

1. Gabriela’s Downtown

Gabriella's Downtown

Gabby is the QUEEN of tacos and margs. Her namesake restaurant is one of the top bachelorette party destinations in Austin because the drinks are strong, the tacos are served on homemade corn tortillas, and the vibe is high. A total fiesta.

There are two locations: downtown is a bit smaller, but it’s close to all the hubbub. The south location has a GIANT outdoor patio and live music. Both are great choices for margaritas and tacos in Austin.

2. Grizzelda’s

Grizzelda’s, located in east Austin, is the sister restaurant to Jacoby’s Restaurant and Mercantile. What does that mean? It means your tacos will be full of that delicious Jacoby beef from their local Texas ranch. This fun and festive restaurant has bright wallpaper, stunning chandeliers, and a cute, feminine ambiance. It’s a wonderful place to meet up with some friends for happy hour or dinner.

Speaking of happy hour: check out their Wednesday night happy hour specials for cocktails and appetizers.

3. Vamonos

Yet another amazing patio for tacos and margaritas! Vamonos is a bright restaurant in north Austin with awesome Tex Mex food, a fun patio, and an excellent tequila selection. All of their food is hormone-free, they strive to use local ingredients, and the margaritas are legendary.

Btw, they have happy hour every day (even on the weekends!) from 4-6 pm. If you can get off work a bit early to meet up for some tacos and margs, Vamonos is a solid option. Try to get a table on their patio, if possible!

This cute taqueria on the east side feels like you’re stepping into Mexico City! It’s such a fun space and definitely one of the most popular spots in Austin for tacos + margaritas. The cocktail list is AWESOME. There’s a huge list of tequila and mezcals and all sorts of specialty cocktails for you to try. The tacos are really solid, served with homemade salsa already added for the perfect kick of spice.

There’s lots of indoor and outdoor seating, but if you love enjoying margaritas under the open sky, try to snag one of the patio seats.

5. Tacodeli

For years and years (like, 20 years, to be precise), Tacodeli was just a breakfast and lunch restaurant. And then they finally decided to show some compassion to Austinites and stay open through the dinner hours. And they added margaritas to the menu. Bless.

Tacodeli is one of the most well-known taco restaurants in the city. They’re always consistent, they use great ingredients, and food is delivered quickly. And since it’s a pretty big chain at this point, it’s easy for you to find a Tacodeli location nearby.

6. Fresa’s

Well, if you’re looking for the ultimate #patiovibes in Austin, it’s pretty hard to beat Fresa’s. It’s a creek side grilled chicken/Mexican food restaurant in Bouldin Creek with huge live oak trees, delish prickly pear margaritas, and some of the best tacos in ATX.

Whether you just go for queso and margaritas or you indulge in an entire meal of grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, Mexican beans, and dessert (you must try homemade ice cream and churros!), Fresa’s is a shoe-in for the best margaritas and tacos in Austin.

7. Polvos

Located just down the road from Fresa’s, Polvos is another iconic taco + marg combo in Austin. The margaritas aren’t quite as upscale, but Polvos is famous for its pitchers, self-serve salsa bar, and absolutely scrumptious homemade flour tortillas.

Be sure to get some chili con queso to kick off the meal. And if you’re not completely sold on tacos, try the Fajitas Al Guajillo: sizzling beef, sun-dried peppers, pecans, raisins, peanuts, and grilled onions, served with all the fixings.

8. ATX Cocina

ATX Cocina

Looking for a swanky spot downtown for tacos and margaritas? Definitely check out ATX Cocina. It’s a gorgeous restaurant on the ground floor of a downtown residential skyscraper. The interior is modern and chic, and whether you perch at the bar, grab a table, or enjoy the outdoor patio, this restaurant space is fun and celebratory.

The happy hour menu offers a taco and their house margarita at a discounted price. Definitely worth checking out!

9. Taquero Mucho

Margarita at Taquero Mucho

You will definitely want to try the pink tacos at this adorable downtown taqueria! Yep…pink tacos. They taste like normal corn tortillas, but they’re dyed with beetroot powder to give them a little extra pizzaz for Instagram.

From the same team as Gabriella’s Downtown, Taquero Mucho is a bright pink Tejano restaurant with strong drinks, loud music, and the ultimate girl's night out energy. The food is similar to what you'll find at Gabriella’s, but the branding is a life force all of its own.

10. La Mancha

La Mancha Grill

La Mancha Grill is an absolute must for tacos and margaritas in ATX. It’s a classic Tex Mex joint that has earned a place in longtime Austinites’ hearts for its quick service, Tex Mex classics, and drink specials.

There’s nothing all that unique about the margaritas here (meaning that you’ll find all the classics: rocks or frozen, spicy marg, Mexina martini, etc.) But tequila is tequila, you know?
