Play For All Abilities Park Is One  Of The Best Parks In Austin

If you haven’t had the chance to visit yet, Play For All Park in Round Rock is truly one of the best parks in the greater Austin area. This MASSIVE, state-of-the-art park covers a vast area and was thoughtfully designed with inclusivity in mind to make sure that every child—regardless of their abilities—has the opportunity to play and enjoy the outdoors. (I love this so much.) The park pretty much has it all - a wide variety of play “pods,” including adaptive swings, sensory gardens, and wheelchair-accessible equipment.

I’m obsessed with this place because I love utilizing free public spaces and programs when I’m exploring Austin with my kids, and I think you’ll love it, too! Here’s a look at Play For All in Round Rock.

Why Visit Play For All in Round Rock?

Play For All in Round Rock-03

Firstly, this is a public park, so it’s totally free to visit. It’s cool enough to seem like the type of amusement park or play space that charges admission, but it’s FREE! If you’re looking for some fun free stuff to do in Austin with your kids, add this place to your list.

Play For All is inclusive of all abilities. It’s built to accommodate wheelchairs and anyone with a disability. It’s also an incredibly fun park for children who are not disabled. Basically, this park is just AWESOME.

Things To Do At Play For All

Zip Lines // I mean, zip lines for children with all different abilities? AMAZING. My son loves these things. He’s too young to feel safe on the button swing zip line, so he likes to sit in the big chair swing with the shoulder harness so I can strap him in safely and give him a big push. I’m pretty sure he thinks it's a roller coaster. 🙂

TONS of playscapes // slides, climbing, monkey bars, ladders…if your child just needs to run and climb and burn energy, there are a lot of places where they can do that at Play For All.

Race track // this loopy race track is a place where kids can ride their bikes, scooters, rollerblades, or anything with wheels. It’s themed like an F1 race track and seriously so cute!

Miniature city // This little “Brushy Creek Village” is a tiny town with actual streets, stop signs, and buildings! It’s adorable. Kids can walk or ride around the “town” and stop into shops, wait at traffic lights, and explore a little village that’s built just for their size.

Sand pit // Ask any parent, and they’ll probably tell you that they loathe sand pits at parks…so messy. But I actually don’t mind this one as much because the city of Round Rock had the common sense to put in a little foot washing water spigot on the edge of the sand. *Slow clap.*

Adventure hill // Technically, this hilly adventure pod helps with “hand eye coordination, core and upper body strength, and gross motor development.” But honestly? My kids just think it’s really fun to climb and they have no idea about all the benefits.

It takes a lot of sponsors, board members, and city approvals to make a park THIS big and THIS inclusive actually happen. Round Rock is an incredible family-friendly city, and the fact that they care so much about creating a park where all children can play is a testament to how much they value their families.

10/10 recommend visiting this place the next time you need some free fun in Austin with your kids!
