Where To Eat Breakfast In Austin With Kids

Toasty Badger

Toasty Badger

Toasty Badger (South Congress) is one of the best places to eat breakfast in Austin with kids. This fun 70s-inspired diner serves classic comfort food—my boys can’t get enough of the pancakes!

It’s a popular spot, so the line gets long on weekends, but going early on a Saturday or during the week makes it an easy, kid-friendly breakfast option.

Daymaker Cafe

Daymaker Cafe

Daymaker Café is a great choice if you’re looking for where to eat breakfast in Austin with kids. From the Jack Allen’s team, this family-friendly spot (in a renovated IHOP!) serves diner classics plus a few Creole-inspired dishes. I love ordering something fun like crawfish étouffée while my kids stick to their favorites—pancakes, eggs, and biscuits.

Kerbey Lane Cafe

Kerbey Lane Cafe

Of course, no list of where to eat breakfast in Austin with kids would be complete without Kerbey Lane Café. With locations all over the city, this iconic diner is famous for its yummy seasonal pancakes, plus a wide variety of kid-friendly menu options.

I particularly appreciate the little touches: lots of high chairs, cups with lids, and coloring sheets. Those things make it one of the easiest family breakfast spots in Austin.

Sour Duck Market

Sour Duck Market

I know, I've shared that Sour Duck Market is one of the BEST spots to eat in Austin with kids so many times, but it's true! And if you're looking for a breakfast spot, they're open every single weekday morning.

This farm-to-table restaurant from the famed Odd Duck team has an outdoor garden and a dedicated kids’ play area, making it easy for parents to relax. My husband and I love the brisket chilaquiles, while our kids go for breakfast tacos and pastries.

The Meteor Cafe

The Meteor Cafe

The Meteor may look like a simple South Congress coffee shop, but it’s actually one of the best hidden gems for where to eat breakfast in Austin with kids.

The huge back patio has a crushed granite ground where my little ones love to push trucks around while my husband and I enjoy breakfast tacos, avocado toast, and coffee.

They don't have any pancakes on the menu, but between the fruit bowl, donuts, and breakfast tacos, we can always find something for the boys to eat.

Phoebe's Diner

Phoebe's Diner

Phoebe’s Diner may look like a simple spot from the outside, but the food is seriously SO good! I love coming here for breakfast, and it’s an easy place to bring kids. My child always orders the bacon and chocolate chip pancakes, and there are plenty of other kid-friendly options that make it one of my go-to spots for breakfast in Austin with kids.
