22 Best Weekday Breakfast Spots In Austin
1. Proud Mary Café
![weekday breakfast in Austin - Proud Mary weekday breakfast in Austin - Proud Mary](https://theaustinthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/weekday-breakfast-in-austin.jpg)
Proud Mary is a Melbourne- inspired cafe that started in Portland and then opened a location here in Austin on South Lamar. It's a beautiful restaurant with high ceilings and a welcoming ambiance...but be sure to put the address into your maps app. They don't have a sign out front! They're going for more of a "word-of-mouth" thing here.
And it's clearly working, because this fantastic cafe is consistently buzzing with coffee nerds who want to try their espresso flights and local foodies who want the most delicious weekday breakfast in Austin.
The menu has little "surprises" on it, which is to be expected as this is an Australian-inspired café. So instead of traditional American eggs, bacon, pancakes, and such, there's soft "scrambled egg roti" with scrambled eggs, crispy chili crab oil, pickled veggie & bean sprout salad, roasted peanuts, cilantro, and grilled roti. Or try the fantastic miso leek toast, with miso roasted leeks, miso puree, pickled mustard seeds, parmesan, poached eggs, and nori.
Everything is just a little different than what you might find at an American café, but the food is seriously incredible. Easily one of the top weekday breakfast spots in Austin.

2. Phoebe's Diner
![best domain restaurants Phoebe's Diner](https://theaustinthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/PHOEBES-DINER-1-1024x829.jpg)
This little 1950s-style diner now has multiple locations around Austin, and they're always crowded - so you know it’s good! Phoebe’s Diner has big portions, low prices, and friendly, relaxed service.
Their breakfast items include classics like buttermilk flapjacks and bacon and eggs, as well as fancier items like a coffee-smoked brisket burrito served with a side of hash browns. This is one of my personal favorite breakfast places in town!

You might have heard that Sandra Bullock owns a cafe in Austin - and this is it! Walton's Fancy and Staple is a downtown cafe inside a historic building on W 6th.
It's absolutely adorable. It has an "old-fashioned general store" feel to it, complete with a small market where you can purchase flowers and small gifts.
The weekday breakfast menu is phenomenal. Be sure to try that Challah French Toast with creme brûlée batter, and the blackened gulf shrimp and poblano cheddar grits.

Bird Bird Biscuit is a cute little biscuit shop with crazy good biscuit sandwiches, biscuits and gravy, and simple biscuits with jam.
They now have two locations in Austin, and you can order ahead for either one. It's a fantastic option if you want something you can grab-and-go and eat in the car. The weekday breakfast is slightly different than the weekend brunch, but there are still lots of goodies offered like avocado toast, several breakfast sandwiches, and a daily waffle.

The most surprising thing, to me, about this Japanese coffee house is the depth and complexity of its food program! Their toast is the best I’ve ever had in Austin. It’s made on Japanese milk bread, which is imported from a bakery in Chicago, loaded with intriguing toppings, and served warm and fluffy. You can also order Rosen’s Bagels here (the best bagels in town!), yogurt, oatmeal, and assorted pastries.

10. Josephine House
![JOSEPHINE HOUSE Easter Brunch In Austin](https://theaustinthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/JOSEPHINE-HOUSE-1-810x1024.jpg)
So charming! Josephine House is an American restaurant inside a little renovated cottage in Clarksville, a neighborhood that's adjacent to downtown Austin.
This is a good option for a special breakfast date, like a birthday breakfast. It’s just a little bit pricier than the taco/bagel type of weekday breakfast spots in Austin, but it's 100% worth the splurge.
Josephine House is the sister restaurant to Austin’s original fine dining establishment, Jeffrey’s. It has the same upscale feel in a slightly brighter, more modern setting. (Bring a camera – everything here looks so darn good on Instagram with the pretty white tables and natural light.)
